Research On A Number Of Issues About Design Of One-way Roadway

With the fast development of the economy of our country, thepromotion of theurbanization process, urban population is increasingconstantly, and the ownership of motor vehicle is increasing doubly. Theurban traffic problems become the bottleneck restraining the city fromdeveloping further. One-way roadway system is a kind of simple andeffective traffic management means. It has the advantages of increasingroad capacity, raising vehicular speed and reducing traffic accident.Therefore, one-way roadway system has been used extensively to solvethe problem of urban traffic congestion problems. Based on the analysisof urban traffic problems in China, the adaptation of one-way roadway athome and abroad is combined; some aspects are studied and analyzed,such as one-way roadway theory,one-way roadway impact, one-waydesign,and they are concluded as follows:(1) According to the traffic engineering and trafficmanagement&planningtheory, one-way roadway theory is summarized in this thesis. The one-way roadway lane utilization effect, its weakness andstrengths, the traffic characteristics of one-way roadway are analyzedfrom the aspects such as the complexity of intersections, the traffic signaleffects,the arterial-control effects, the clockwise and anticlockwiseone-way rings are discussed. The conclusions regarding as advantagesand disadvantages of the one-way roadway are also involved.(2) The situation that some of drivers would change their routes ontheir trips with longer distance is studied in detail. And the problems ofthe detour routes and some other detailed are analyzed. This thesisinitiates the calculation methods and the solution measures of theone-way roadway detour distance, also applies the principle of buspriority in the one-way roadway in order to reduce the adverse effectproduced by it. To make sure that the emergency vehicles such as the firstaid, fire fighter and so on can go through, developing traffic facilities andguarantee measures, reducing the adverse effect of commercial activity ofthe one-way street both sides, as well as enhancing the roadsidesutilization of the one-way street at night and so on, these aspects are taken into consideration in the thesis.(3) Finally, taking Changsha as an example, this thesis has proposedthe design method of the one-way roadway project, carried on the designof the road, and evaluated traffic results.Then one-way roadway plan issynthetically evaluated and analyzed, and the system of the evaluationindex is generalized.
