Along with the promulgation implementation of Technical Specification for ConcreteStructures with Specially Shaped Columns (JGJ149-2006), the application of special-shapedcolumns structure has been further promotion. But the code is not very perfect, in which Zshaped cross-section columns have not been embodied yet. The main reason is that relativeexperiment and theory study of Z shaped cross-section columns are not mature. The study ofZ shaped cross-section columns is not only for the need of engineering design, also for theperfection of the rules to provide certain reference. Therefore, studies of Z shapedcross-section columns and have important practical value and theoretical significance.Z shaped Columns with wide different limb lengths refers to the web at both ends of theflange dimensions are not equal or flange and web of general dimension B of size H ratio isnot equal to1, and the web width to thickness ratio of greater than4limb of Z shapedcolumns. This paper mainly studies the shear bearing capacity of the web limb thickness ratio5:1inequiaxial broad limb Z shaped cross-section columns, also provides some suggestionsfor engineering design. In this paper, the major research works are summarized as below:(1).In this paper,we introduce the shear mechanisms of reinforced concrete columns, alsothe nonlinear finite element is used for analysis reinforced concrete Z shaped columns withwide different limb lengths. By making the normal section members in different load Angle, shear span ratio, reinforcement ratio, Draw a conclusion that normal sections assumption haveapplicability in Elastic stage. The conclusion provides a theoretic basis for engineeringdesign.(2).Distinguishing broad limb Z-shaped Columns with wide different limb lengths,weanalyze28loading models of engineering shaft in two directions.Through the study of thedestruction form of the component on the same height, we get the influence of flange size onthe shear bearing capacity and ductility. And it lays a foundation for the next step of theexperimental study of Z shaped cross-section columns with different limb lengths.(3).According to the existing research results in combination with the researchconclusion of the article, engineering proposal is provided for the Shear design of Z-shapedColumns with wide different limb lengths.
