At present, foreign automobile company has already widely used optimizationtechnology in every stage of automobile design and manufacture, this made products designmore reasonable and efficient, but also reduced the cost of design, depressed the time ofdesign, greatly improving ability of design of automobile enterprise. But in our country, theuse of optimization technique is understaffed.This paper discusses its application in the field of a self-dumping truck frame, researchtopology optimization theory of more complicated topological structure, by usingHyperWorks optimization module, the fundamental optimization model was built based onthe design requirements and a truck’s actual size, load, and the boundary conditions of truckframe; taking the deformation energy under each load step as objective function, and thevolume fraction as constraint function, using the method of changing density, carried outseveral topology optimizations on a same model, then a set of results were got.At the same time,following teacher’ instruction, according to the layout of the frame andbearing requirements, the results of topology optimization, and reference to other experiencesin and out of country, the initial structure of the frame was completed. the intensity, stiffnessand modal of the frame was analyzed through finite software OptiStruct, the results showedthat the bending stiffness and torsional stiffness have been enhanced, in particular, torsionalstiffness was enhanced nearly; bending modal frequency and torsional modal frequency werealso increased, theoretically showed that the design of the frame was basically reasonable, andits stiffness, intensity be able to meet the design requirements, and has good dynamiccharacteristics.
