Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) is the hard core of the new speedregulating system, which witnesses its booming growth in industrialapplications with the advanced power electronics, computer technology, and control theory. SRM has a simple structure, reliable operation and highenergy efficiency, but SRM control system is endowed with complex,time-varying, nonlinear and strongly mutual coupled characteristics, whichlead to the torque ripple and noise. To solve the problem, the precise SRMmodel has to be established.Firstly, the composition, characteristics and development trend ofSRM speed control system are represented. Analyze working principle ofthe SRM and the control modes of the speed control system. Build aplatform of the SRM speed control system, mainly the power converterand the controller. In order to establish the precise motor model in thecontrol system, the proposed controller is based on theDSP2812and FPGAwhich are responsible for different tasks, and between them acommunication mechanism is designed. A comprehensive electrical controlsystem and a special protection circuit for driving system are developed.Based on system equations of the SRM, analyze the linear andnonlinear models of motor, and the different between them is given. Inorder to establish the precise nonlinear model of the motor, the so called"pulse voltage excitation the traversal current response method is given tomeasure the true inductance of the SRM. A CMAC network with lessstorage characteristic is built to approximate the nonlinear. Therefore anFPGA-based hardware computational platform is utilized to realize the real-time calculation of the CMAC model. Finally, though the torquetesting experiment, conclude that stable torque output of the motor can beobtained based on the proposed model.
