Mixed traffic is the typical characteristics in city traffic of our country. Such as mixed driving for bicycles and vehicles on general sections, mixed driving for the pedestrians, bicycles and vehicles in the intersections. With large pedestrians flow, such as commercial streets and subway stations, the interferences between pedestrians and vehicles are more serious at the sections. Crosswalk is a traffic facilitie used for pedestrians to cross the lane, a typical transport bottleneck where conflict between pedestrians and vehicles happens and one of the important part of urban traffic system. For the crosswalk set in road section, low pedestrian flow may not influence the traffic, instead, high pedestrian flow will cause great influence on traffic because of some pedestrian violations. Great interference happens at the crosswalk with no signal control and influences also exists between the pedestrians and the right turning vehicles for the right turning vehicle without signal control in the pedestrian green phase. It can be said that the interference between pedestrians and vehicles generally exists, they not only cause a decline of the flux, but also lead to traffic accidents. In this paper, the mutual interference mechanism between vehicles and pedestrians is studied in the crosswalk as two aspects of signalized intersections and no signalized intersections. The paper mainly works as follows:(1) For no signal intersection, cellular automata model are used to model the behavior of mutual interferences between one-way pedestrians and vehicles at one-lane and no sinalized intersection. This model fully combines the Nasch model with the Blue model together.characteristics of interference between one-way pedestrians and vehicles are described well by introducing conflict interference rules.(2) Pedestrian flow generally is two-way at crosswalk. For no sinalized intersection, cellular automata models are used to model the behavior of mutual interferences between two-way pedestrians and vehicles at one-lane by expanding the model of(1). It can well simulate the characteristics of interference between two-way pedestrians and vehicles.(3) For signal intersection, the paper study the mutual interference mechanism between pedestrians and vehicles at the intersections with right turning lane by signal control. cellular automata models are used to describe the vehicles and pedestrians by introducing the conflict rules of interference. This model describes the characteristics of interference between pedestrians and straight vehicles, and also describes the characteristics of interference between pedestrians and right turning vehicles. The model greatly shows the Mutual interference mechanism between pedestrians and vehicles and well reflects the actual traffic condition.Numerical simulations are carried out to study the flux of vehicles and pedestrians influenced by the parameters, such as the arrival rates, the threshold which pedestrians cross the traffic lane riskily and vehicles cross the crosswalk riskily and signal period.
