Ultrasonic transducer is the important sensor in ultrasonic flowmeter. It converts signalbetween electrical and mechanical signal. The main measurement parameters of ultrasonictransducer include impedance, admittance, static capacitance and the mechanical quality.These parameters directly affect the quality of the signals transmitted and received by theultrasonic transducer, and then reduce the reliability and accuracy of measurement results. Atpresent, the impedance phase analyzer is widely used in detecting the performance ofultrasonic transducers. However, these instruments need manually setting while working, andfail to satisfy the requirement of data access, statistics, the actual production and otherfunctions.The system in this paper, is based on the HP4194A impedance phase analyzer, and designthe interface with GPIB (General-Purpose Interface Bus). This system includes manyfunctions, such as automation setup, data access, statistics and so on. The system uses theGPIB interface to connect HP4194A with PC, and SQL Server2000to manage the parametersabout the transducer, include impedance, impedance angle and static capacitance. The systemuses C#to develop the control software, and the main function of this software includes:I. Saving the performance data about ultrasonic transducer.II. Measuring the information about impedance and impedance angle, includingimpedance frequency, impedance, impedance angle and the difference between minimal andmaximal impedance frequency. Measuring information of static capacitance, include themaximal capacitance and maximal capacitance. Measuring information of admittance, includethe maximal and minimal DEG and MAG, and the value of DEG and MAG. Displaying thecurves of impedance and impedance angle and admittance circle.III. Managing the collected information. Selecting and screening the historical datarecords by ID. Printing and exporting the EXCEL reports from historical data records.Supporting secondary development by using the historical data records.IV. Forecasting the life of product and accessing remote database. The systemeffectively integrates the data extracting part、data transmission and preservation part、data analysis and mining part、the comprehensive evaluation part. This system can completesthe fast and effective detection of ultrasonic transducer. Also, it provides an evaluation systemof transducer for enterprises.
