At present, more and more wireless sensor network has been applied to the distribution network monitoring system to implement and protect users’demand of electricity. With limited electric energy, computing power, storage space and communication capability, effective energy conservation programs to ensure the normal operation of the network and effective security communication mechanisms such as identity authentication to prevent the network attacks are necessary for wireless sensor network to be applied to practical application environment. Considering the characteristics of wireless sensor network of distribution network monitoring system, this paper makes an intensive study on its security issues.Firstly, this paper analyzes the current security issues that wireless sensor network faces, then studies the structure and characteristics of wireless sensor network in distribution network monitoring system. Considering the limited energy and storage space of wireless sensor network, this paper designs a clustering algorithm involving sensor’s location and remaining energy applied to distribution network monitoring system. According to the sensors’location, sensors are divided into far nodes that are far from base station and near nodes that are near base station. When choosing new cluster heads, the algorithm firstly selects the one which has the most residual energy. The simulation experiment shows that compared with traditional LEACH protocol, the clustering method designed by this paper can effectively extend the network lifetime and reduce the total energy consumption of sensor nodes.Secondly, through the study of a variety of attacks that wireless sensor network is vulnerable to face, this paper compares and analyzes several classical authentication mechanisms. Based on this, this paper designs an identity authentication scheme applied to wireless sensor network of distribution network monitoring system. The scheme adopts elliptic curve cryptography, for it has high security, small public key, low storage requirement and small calculation load. The identity authentication includes authentication between cluster heads and authentication between cluster heads and cluster nodes. With in-depth analysis on communication overhead, calculate consumption and safety, the program designed by this paper is proved to have high security and be suitable for distribution network monitoring system.
