In recent years, a series of blackouts accidents with large enormous impact and losses had happened successively in the foreign and domestic, which reminded that the power companies must attach great importance to the risks faced by the grid. On the other hand, with the dramatic increase in the number of equipments and lines, how to make a scientific, effective and long-term maintenance repair strategies and specific implementation plans has become the priorities and difficulties of the power companies under the condition of limited staff and funding.The CBRM assessment process is the use of equipments’information, engineering principles and the practical operating experience to define the current and future status and performance of the equipment, and eventually to quantify the risk. In this paper, through building mathematical model for each type of equipment and quantifying the equipment condition and risk, I have achieved the transition from state management to risk management for the equipment in order that provide scientific basis for asset managers to make the equipment management decisions. Finally, using the CBRM model of the presented in this paper to optimize the arrangement of a EHV220kV and500kV transmission and distribution equipment maintenance plan that illustrated the effectiveness of the work of this study.
