Recently, with the increasing desires of high ride comfort and road-protection, the application of air-suspension has become a inevitable trend. Nowadays, the large passenger car with high third grade must use the independent air-suspension according to the laws, and the large passage car with high second grade also needs to use it. In order to protect the road surface, it has become a trend that the heavy truck uses the independent air-suspension. It’s also a typical choice that some special vehicles use the air-suspension to finish a whole cargo-delivering.In china, the companies are in the stage that they don’t have their owe technology, only by importing,copying and purchasing directly. Since the air-suspension was introduced into the markets, lots of companies have accumulated technologies that they could design the passive air-suspension by themselves based on the promotion of industry, academy and research integration. Base on the software ADAMS, a multi-body dynamic air-suspension physics model is built to do some characteristic analysis and some other analysis. This method can short the development cycle, reduce the development costs and improve the development quality.The article takes a large high second grade passenger car, which has been finished the first layout design, as the research subject and discusses the vehicle performance based on the multi-body dynamic theory. A virtual prototype is built to do some simulations by using the software Adams/Car. And the virtual prototype model contains the rear-suspension, front-suspension, steering system, engine, tire, body and the entire vehicle model.The paper does some researches on the performance of handling and ride comfort. According to the national standard of the handling, the steady static circular test, slalom test, angle pulse test and single lane change test are simulated in the software of Adams to evaluate the handling ability. Additionally, the author also evaluates the ride comfort according to the national standard including the random roads input test and pulse roads test.
