"Light-frame wood structures" has been added in Code for Design of Timber Structures GB50005-2003, however the major contents were obtained from the test results and codes of America and Canada. In China, Light-frame wood structures are still on the primary stage that the related works have not been studied systemically.So we need urgently to fill the gap throughing the research.Nails are the most common fastenings used in wood construction. So the performances of nail connections directly influenced the lateral resistance capacity of shear walls.the finite element analytical model of wood shear walls is based on the nail joints models moreover model parameters of nail joints are most fitted to the test dates, that will be of great importance to wholly analyze the shear walls.Test research of the nail joints on light wood structure is introduced in this paper.Panel nail joints includes1groups of perpendicular-to-grain and1groups of parallel-to-grain nail joint. Frame nail joints includes1groups of shearing test and1groups of pull-out test,There are10specimens each group.The process of test data based on the Matlab.The model provides essential dates on the performance of connections,that can be integrated into the finite element software to analyze wood frame construction.Three different types of wood shear wall (standard wall,the wall opening the door,the wall opening the window) researched in this paper. A new loading setup is used to conduct monotonic and cyclic tests for three full size wood shear walls, load-displacement curves, hysteresis property, shear strength, ultimate displacement, lateral displacement stiffness and stud lift were studied.The test results were compared with the same configures using articulated and whole load spreaders.At the last part, Johnn’s user nail joints element used in this paper. It not only established a model of skeleton curve of nail joints also introduced the law of hysteresis. The paper throughed a example to verify the model with high accuracy. ABAQUS software is used to analyze the performance of standard shear walls and shear walls opening door under one-way and cycle load.The coefficient was make more consistent with the actual situation during the analysis and presented its range.Finally,this paper compared with the simulation results and test results to verify the correctness of the model.The method provided a favorable measures for studying the performace of wood shear walls in the future.
