Light-frame wood structure widely used in North America and other areas shows quite good seismic performance, and the wood shear walls is most important part to resist the lateral force resistance. Because this structure has not developed well in china, so experiments in this paper are to test the shear performance of walls adopt different domestic material and walls whose frame adopt cross brace or rabbet in stud connection, which are hoped to promote application of this kind of structure in China by providing experimental data.In this paper, eleven group shear walls were tested under monotonic and cyclic loads respectively, and the effects of rabbet adopt in stud connection cross brace and different panel on the shear strength、 stiffness、 peak displacement、ultimate displacement and energy dissipation of the walls were studied. Experimental results show that joints of rabbet can avoid Connection failure of nail connection under cyclic loads and ensure the integrity of the wall frame. And therefore joints of rabbet can improve wall stiffness and limit the deformation of the wall. Experimental results show that the maximum uplift of end studs in wall with cross brace is only22.7%of that in wall without cross brace. This indicates that cross brace play an significant role on limiting the uplift of studs and make the failure of nail connection in plate before that in studs. And what’s more cross brace can also improve the stiffness and reduce the displacement of the wall. Besides, experimental results show that plywood can be used to make shear wall in place of OSB because of the good shear performance in experiment. However the shear performance of wall with HuaQi plate is poor, so it is better to be used as intensity reserve in practice. The shear performance of wall whose studs are made with Fir wood is worse than the wall adopt SPF for its studs; and comparing with Standard wall, the shear performance of wall made with plywood and Fir wood obviously goes down. Finally, ANASYS10.0is used to simulate part of walls. And the results show that, ANSYS calculated results agree well with the experimental results.
