Truck crane is a road mobile lifting equipment, and it is mainly used for theinfrastructure (such as: the port construction, the wind power construction). In recentyears, with the acceleration of national infrastructure and the increasinglycompetitive market the truck crane gets a great development, the requirements of thesecurity and lifting capacity also increase. As the most important components of the truck crane, the performance of themain arm directly affect the overall performance of the crane, so it must have a highreliability. In recent years in order to ensure the reliability of the main boom, theresearcher introduce the Finite Element Analysis to design the main arm. However,if we use the conventional Finite Element Analysis to design the main arm willresult the following two questions: a) the separation of the design and analysis; b)repeatability modeling. These two issues affected the design cycle and productionefficiency of the main arm. However, if we add the parametric thoughts into theFinite Element Analysis of the main arm, we can avoid the above two problems. After I access the relevant literature, I don’t find any researcher using the parametricmethod to model and analysis the main arm。 The paper will use the parametricmethod to design and analysis the main arm, which will have a significant influenceof the research of the main arm.At present, the structure of crane boom are very similar, they are all telescopicboom. These characteristics of the boom show that parameterized modeling andanalysis of the boom is feasible. After we analyzed six heterogeneous booms ofcertain series of300t-1200t of truck cranes, we got a universal model, and thenextracted parameters from the universal model. After got parameters, APDLlanguage and DOS language are used to develop the parametric modeling andanalysis program of truck crane boom. When parametric programming is completed,MATLAB software is used to develop an interface system, the main purpose of theinterface system is convenient to users. The main contents of this paper are as follows:1) Based on the parametric design ideas, universal boom model for finite element analysis are proposed for six boom structures of certain series of300t-1200tof truck cranes.2) Extracting the parameters, And these parameters are summarized: geometricparameters that can describe the universal boom model; Boundary conditionparameters and operating conditions that can describe the boundary constraints ofthe boom.3) The parameterized procedure is divided into six parts:modeling procedure, assembly procedure, contact definition procedure, boundary definition procedure, the control procedure and the results extraction procedure. Refering to ANSYS asthe secondary development platform, APDL is used to develop these procedures.4) APDL language and DOS language are used to unite all the procedures toform a complete parametric modeling and analysis procedures; For the convenienceof the input parameters, simplify the operation process of procedures, we useMATLAB software to develop an executable module and allow the interface to callparameterized modeling and analysis program, completed a parameterized modelingand analysis system.5) In this paper, in order to verify the accuracy of the analysis result of theparametric system, a series of boom was selected for experiment, and achievedcertain results. And we compared the experimental results and the results of theparametric system. Through this process, experimental results are similar to resultsof the parametric system. This confirmed the parameterized system is accurateIn general, the parametric modeling and analysis system can effectively solvethe problems of the boom design work. The parametric modeling and analysissystem improve the efficiency of the boom design work.
