As one of the important types of engineering machinery, truck crane is widely used in the field of construction site, oilfields and so on. Boom is one of the important special truck crane operation devices, a direct impact on the vehicle's total quality and capacity of the lifting. GT-750E is derived from the BQ-TADANO (BEIJING) CRANE CO.,LTD.'s development project. In this paper, the section designs of telescopic boom are studied. Main tasks are as follows:(1) According to the unit or other products industry to determine the product box boom of the basic parameters and working conditions;(2) For different working conditions, the stiffness and strength of the hexagonal section and the elliptic section are checked, and the characteristics are compared;(3) According to the actual production process, the finite element method (FEM) for the telescopic boom is studied by selecting the section of the hexagonal boom. For the four typical conditions, the three-dimensional geometry models are established in CATIA, meshing and loading and other related works are carried out in HyperMesh, the solutions are completed in the finite element analysis software BADIOSS, and in which the post-processing works are performed;(4) The traditional calculation method and finite element analysis method, due to the establishment of the model, simplified mechanism analysis of the actual cause deviation;(5) According to the requirements of national standard and factory test was carried out on the real machine stress patch test, and then to compare the three kinds of calculation and test results.By traditional calculation method, the finite element analysis, and the actual prototype of patch test analysis, GT-750E meet the design requirements, complete the needs of the overall design. At the same time, upgrade the product, or for the future provided a reference for the design of other products.
