In recent years, with the rapid development of national economy and roadtransportation industry, China’s highway mileage and civilian car ownership haveincreased rapidly. While the road transportation development brings greatconvenience to residents, the traffic safety problems are also been caused, whichbrings a serious threat to the safety of life and property.There are many reasons that lead to the vehicle road traffic accidents, the designof road alignment is not reasonable is one of the most important ones. Duringvehicle’s driving process, the driver changes the operation to the vehicle according tothe road alignment and makes the vehicle’s diving trajectory consistent with the roadalignment. Driver obtained external road information through observation, judging,and making prediction to the road alignment. Based on the obtained information,proper operations are done to the vehicle. Else wise, driver updates his operationaccording to the vehicle’s transient and steady response. Vehicle’s driving process is aclosed-loop. Therefore, road alignment has a decisive influence on the stability ofvehicle driving. Moreover, the design of geometric parameter of road alignmentshould consider the dynamic characteristics of vehicle driving.The purpose of this paper is to research the influence of different road alignmentparameters on the vehicle driving stability through study on vehicle’s handingstability using Carsim, and based on this, obtained the reasonable range of road designparameters. The research content is expressed as follows:(1) analysis of vehicle stability influence factors, determine the key parametersof motion stability of vehicle; according to internal and external forces analysis ofvehicle running process, establish the vehicle multi-DOF dynamic model, anddetermine the appropriate lateral dynamics model according to the actual deformationof vehicle tyre. According to the vehicle dynamics model, using MATLAB simulationanalysis of the vehicle dynamics characteristics, and with the same running results ofCarsim vehicle dynamics simulation conditions, verify the reliability of vehicledynamics model.(2) Give a detail analysis for the evaluation of the two perspective of appraisaltheory evaluation and test running stability of the vehicle, a reasonable evaluation ofvehicle stability evaluation method. According to the dynamics of the vehicle modelwith three degrees of freedom, the vehicle cornering stability is analyzed, finallydetermined to evaluation index characterization of vehicle cornering stability anddetermination conditions; (3) Establish the road linear structure using Carsim with different parameters, therunning stability analysis using the vehicle, determining principle of geometricparameters of the choice of the road and selection.The results of this research will provide theoretical basis and technical supportfor the design parameters of geometric linear road.
