The car’s handling and stability is one of the most important performance s in theautomotive system. It affects not only the operating convenience but also determinesthe safety performance of high-speed vehicles. There are many factors that affect thecar’s handling and stability,such as the tire cornering properties, centroid location,roll height, cornering stiffness, speed and wheel alignment parameters. Especially thewheel alignment parameters have a significant impact on the operational stability.Making the wheel alignment parameters correctly is helpful to the operation alstability, fuel economy performance and safety performance Therefore, the study ofcar four parameters has the theoretical reference value on vehicle handling andstability.In this paper, in the National Natural Science Foundation funded project"passenger car wheel alignment parameter algorithm and kingpin inclination activecontrol"(No.51050002).Summary the domestic and foreign scholars’ research resultson Vehicle handling and stability and four alignment parameters and find that thewheel alignment parameters have an important impact on the handling and stability;Considering four positional parameters, combined with nonlinear tire corneringproperties, the use of a domestic passenger car prototype, establish of a stable modelof vehicle non-linear operation based on a domestic passenger car; Applicatenumerical analysis methods to study wheel alignment parameters of the bifurcation ofsteady steering and analyze the caster angle, the bifurcation angle of the vehiclecamber and the bifurcation speed; Applicate numerical analysis method to researchwheel alignment parameters’ affects on non-steady-state steering of the bifurcationcharacteristics, analyze body roll with the bifurcation characteristics of the frequencywith different front and rear cambers; Based on research results in this article, Laythe foundation for further study.The main innovations of the paper is that Considering the nonlinear corneringproperties of tires, use the car’s wheel alignment parameters to establish a nonlineardynamic model with the kingpin inclination and wheel camber to analyze the stabilit yof automotive steering; different kingpin inclination and camber to take the nonlinearbehavior of the vehicle body roll in a single freque ncy sinusoidal excitation input, tofind a system of bifurcation and chaotic phenomena.
