Research Of The Distributed Traffic Signal Controller Base On Wireless Communication

In recent years, with the development of the Chinese economy, the quantity of vehicle increases rapidly. The city’s traffic situation is even more complex conditions, traffic congestion and environmental pollution has become increasingly prominent. Deal with these issues in a scientific and effective has become one of important problems for traffic management department. Intelligent transportation system is an effective means to alleviate the traffic congestion problem in urban road; it could provide a fast and safe traffic environment. The traffic signal controller is the most important part of the intelligent transportation system.Single cable driver power supply structure using traditional single traffic signal lights in the intersection of new and rebuilt. This structure is not only caused by the consumption of the cable giant and made the construction site complex, but also not conducive to future upgrades and maintenance work, the result is a substantial increase in the cost.This paper presents a traffic signal controller design method based on ZigBee wireless network transmission technology, it could solve the problems what mentioned above. This design could reduce construction costs, and expand the range of applications; it is one of the trends of the future traffic signal control system. The main contents of this paper include:1. Introduces and analyzes the traffic control system at home and abroad. Through the analysis and comparison of the mainstream wireless communication technology, chose ZigBee technology for communications. The overall design of the wireless traffic signal controller was proposed.2. According to the design, the hardware of wireless traffic signal controller was selected. The hardware design includes master control unit, wireless communication module, system power, drive unit and detection unit.3. According to the hardware design and actual demand, completed the software development. The software includes establish communication protocol, master unit grogram, host program and device node program.4. Introduce the method of test, test the function and effect of operation on wireless traffic signal controller.
