Motors are widely used in industrial production and daily life. High failure rate also made significant economic losses, so that kinds of motor protection devices are begin to be researched.This paper brief analysis of the criterion and protection methods of motor, on this basis, i have designed the motor protection device which use the C8051F040MCU as the CPU, the motor protection device has protections such as short-circuit protection, undervoltage protection, overvoltage protection, insulation and so on. The motor protection device also has a independent power, simple man-machine interface and alarm device.As the rapid development of communication. Remote monitoring becomes an inevitable trend. The mode of motor protection device turns from running a single motor protection device into a remote monitoring network. Another important part of the paper is using the RS-485bus to connect the PC and the devices, so that they are communicated. And the network is completed.
