The paper introduces the lasted development of the microcomputer-based relay protection of motors at first. The improvement of automation during produce procession is becoming an important task to many industry enterprises, so we apply measurement-control technique of network in microcomputer-based relay protection of motors, and propose a monitoring and protection system of motor groups based on measurement-control technique of network as a solution. On one hand we developed a motor protection device based 80C196KB with high sensitivity and reliability. On the other hand we developed a serial communication system of master-slave structure based on 485 bus to realize remote-monitoring of motor groups. The system has proved it satisfied the reliability and real-time requirement of factories through six months' application in industry field.
