Recent years, research of Micro Aero Vehicle (MAV) has been focused on. It is small and light, so it can move quickly and hard to be found. Because of these advantages, it fits to some dangerous tasks. Flapping wings Micro Aero Vehicle (FMAV) simulating flying creatures can provide lift and thrust without extra device, on which more and more attention is paid. As the only kind of flying mammal, it has a flapping mode similar to bird, but it is more efficiency in normal and low speed than bird. And it is smarter than birds in same size range, which suits to technical requirements of MAV.In this paper, FLUENT is used to solve N-S function, by which influence on aerodynamic performance caused by wing shape, flapping mode and environment can be analyzed.To build flapping model of wings, flapping mechanism in FMAV was simulated with ADAMS, and data of simulation was exported. Use curve fitting tool of Matlab to get analytical expression of simulation data.Differing from simple sinusoidal model used in similar research, flapping model in current vehicle is used to research aerodynamic performance in this paper. In order to explain some nature phenomenon of flying creatures and provide suggestion to build control strategy, aerodynamic performance in different flapping frequency, flow velocity, flow angle and wing shape was analyzed.Deforming of wings of bird was considered in this paper and simplified to folding motion. According to the figures of flying bird, fold-flapping model is built combining with current flapping model. Compared to pure flapping model, the fold-flapping model gets a great improvement in flying performance. These results are important reference to design prototype.Combining with current body and bat imitating wings, catapult device is used to test difference between flat wing and protruding wing in aerodynamic performance, by which very much on-hand data is got.
