Small radius curve road sections is the black spots of our country’s two-lane secondary roads, many accidents occurred from improper curve design. Grasp the inherent relationship between curve and traffic safety is very meaningful to curve safety design and safety improvement of the existing curve road sections. In this paper, we research on the curve elements and security relations at home and broad, analysis the inherent relationship between traffic safety and curve elements like straight line close to the curve, the rate of change of curvature, curve radius, curve length and the transition curve, to determine the research objectives and lay the foundation for the follow-up.This paper systematic analysis many methods about the linear and traffic safety research. Because of inadequate of some methods, this paper proposed a practical, convenient, easy science research methods. We use the curve fitting regression method with speed indicators to research and evaluate the security of small radius curves. This paper used the speed observation data of secondary roads in Yunan province like wenshan—tianbao road, wenshan—dulong road, zhuxi road, yanshan—wenshan—tianbao—mahuangtang road, to analysis and summary the laws of the vehicle running speed of the small radius of the curve segment and established the model about highway speed and the radius. This model provides an effective basis for calculating to improve the safety of the highway design.In respect of road curve safety evaluation criteria, this paper compared and absorbed horizontal alignment of domestic and international security evaluation criteria. Based on this and the actual situation about our nation’s Two-lane secondary road accidents, this paper verified the speed of security evaluation criteria. The application of the model and evaluation criteria provide a new means for the road safety design and safety audit.In respect of traffic safety measures and effect analysis, this paper find the problems of safety facilities, combing the design principles of the security measures, and a corresponding implementation plan by the research of small radius of the curve segment settings overview of traffic safety measures; Last, this paper discussed the effects after the implementation of traffic safety measures, proposed evaluation methods and dynamic tracking of traffic safety measures in effect. It is very meaningful for traffic safety measures for implementation and evaluation.
