Cold Patch Asphalt Mixture Aggregate Gradation Research

In long-term using process of the asphalt pavement, it is inevitable to avoid pit slotdiseases which affect the service level of the road. Over the years, our country mainlyadopts hot mix asphalt mixture or emulsifying asphalt mixture to repair them.However hot mix asphalt mixture is not economic when used in far from mixing plantplace or scattered little pit slot. And it is large influenced by the temperature ofconstruction process, also not suitable used in low temperature in winter. In addition,its construction process is tedious, and its construction time is long, so it is also notappropriate to create permissive rapid recovery of the pit slot repair. Because of earlystrength low and long construction time, the emulsifying asphalt mixture is not suitablefor the highway repair.Cold patch asphalt mixture is an asphalt mixture which is prepared with specialmixing asphalt and sand stone in a certain temperature, can be formed in a bag forstore. It is diffuse when repair, which is not affected by the season, so can be used atany time for the different types of road repair. Through the analysis of domesticdocuments and summarize related to this article, it conducted a study which plays akey role in making up cold patch asphalt mixture on the performance evaluationmethod, aggregate gradation design and aggregate gradation selection principle.This paper filled construction temperature of cold patch asphalt mixture as astarting point, and divided it into low-temperature area and not low-temperature areacold patch asphalt mixture. Then put forward the performance evaluation method oftwo kinds of cold patch asphalt mixture. On aggregate gradation design, it lessonedfrom the hot mix asphalt mixture aggregate gradation design, proposed on volumeparameter calculation method and the best optimum proportion method of coldpatch asphalt mixture. Through the experiment, this paper analyses how aggregategradation matching the performance of cold patch asphalt mixture, and proposed theselection principles on the aggregate gradation of the cold patch mixture.
