Hub bearing is one of the key parts of the car, it has the important influence to the carsafety, comfort, economy. In order to meet the performance demand, we has made thesignificant innovation for automobile wheel hub bearing. From the original consists of twosingle bearing, such as taper roller bearing and deep groove ball bearing pairing design, todevelopment as the wheel hub unit, the mating part such as the hub and shaft has and bearingbe in harmony an organic whole.In the past few years, the environmental requirements are more and more high. Especiallyfor saving energy, improving reliability and cost saving, the technology requirements is dayby day prominent. According to these requirements, puts forward the change on the wheelhub unit lock method advice, make the present nut lock type change for wheel shaft rivetingjewels, initially we worried riveting process can cause bearing deformation, impactperformance, so this kind of improvement to popularization and application until recently.In the shaft riveting technology, there are many factors influence on hub bearing unitperformance, in the research work, using finite element simulation method replace experimentis a kind of effective means. Based on CAE technology as the foundation, we make a finiteelement simulation for the wheel hub bearing unit axis riveting production process, discussedthe key technology application during the process of simulation and the influence factors onthe quality of the products.Based on the material uniaxial tension and compression experiment, determined thematerial40Cr of the wheel hub unit on material mechanical properties and frictioncharacteristic, and then determine the40Cr input CAE material model data. Based on theexperiment for loading spectrum and riveting head size, we determined the riveting headtrajectory, use the nonlinear finite element software ABAQUS, we make a finite elementsimulation analysis for the wheel hub bearing unit axis riveting process, discusses the keytechnology during the process of simulation application and the impact on the result of finiteelement method. Study on the influence of the riveting head speed, shaft end wall thickness,height,riveting contact friction factor to the chucking force, riveting shape. The application ofthe Finite element analysis used such as contact search, ALE technology. To provideoptimized hub bearing unit axis riveting technology parameters for manufacturers to providetheoretical foundation and scientific basis.
