The wind power is a clean energy and has the fastest development in existing new energies, and it is also one of the valuable renewable energies. But, wind power is a kind of typical randomness and intermittent energy which gives rise to huge impact on power grid and reduces the quality of the output voltage. This is the bottleneck of restricting wind power development. An energy storage system, with the characteristics of dynamic energy absorption and timely release, can make the wind power output better and improve the stability of power grid levels, and it has become an effective way to solve the above problem. The paper proposes a scheme of mechanical elastic storage energy and power generation system based on the flat spiral spring, which can transfer the mechanic energy into the deformation energy when the flat spiral is loaded, while the deformation energy can also be transferred into mechanical energy as the flat spiral is unloaded. As the flat spiral spring is the key component of the system, this paper choose it as the research object and carries out the followling research:First, the evaluation and feasibility analysis on the scheme of mechanical elastic storage energy and power generation system are studied. Based on the scheme, the mechanical model of the flat spiral spring is created. The energy storage density and the design parameters are obtained by studying the spring characteristic curve and the calculation method of energy storage density.Then, considering the shape characteristics of flat spiral spring, the spring is equivalent to be a curved beam when it is modeled by the finite element method. The stress distribution on cross sections, the natural frequencies and the modes of vibration of first20orders of the flat spiral spring are obtained by using ANSYS software.At last, using the ADAMS software as a research platform, the dynamic analysis of the flat spiral spring is developed. The torque change of flat spiral spring with constant angular velocity is studied based on the theory of flexible body. The stiffness curve and the energy storage curve of the spiral spring are also plotted.All the results in this paper provide a strong basis for the optimization design of flat spiral spring and the realization of mechanical elastic storage energy and power generation system.
