Research On The Characteristics And Integrated Protection Of Modern Industry Heritage In Changsha

The industrial revolution reveals a significant chapter in history and brings greatchanges to human society. Industrial buildings serving as places for industry bear thehistory impress of industrial period. Recently, the whole society pays more and moreattention to the protection and recycling of industrial heritage. And many cities inChina have began such protection works for the heritage of industrial buildings.Compared with other major industrial cities, the preservation of industrialbuildings in modern times is not satisfying. The scale and the influence of industrialbuildings in Changsha is less of importance and almost of them are short ofrepresentativeness. For this characteristic of industrial buildings in Changsha, thewriter gives new considerations, including the choice and the establishment ofprotected objects as well as the coordination of relationships between the heritageprotection and the development of the city. And finally, the new protection patternfitting for industrial buildings in Changsha is established.In this article,we studied the development of industry in Changsha from thebeginning to the reform era as well as the distribution of industrial buildings inChangsha and its influential factors through the heritage of modern industrialbuildings in Changsha. We aim to discover the skeleton and the context of industrialbuildings in Changsha and provide fundamental material for the study. Throughanalyzing the general features of modern industrial buildings in Changsha,andcomparing with other cities, we proposed strategies to protect the heritage ofindustrial buildings in Changsha.Through introducing a protection model based on thetheory of integrated emergence, this paper analyzed the suitability of industrialbuildings in Changsha and thus constructed a heritage protected system with astructure of building-region-city.At the end of the paper, an overall protection methodis partially used to build a fictitious protection system for the heritage of industrialbuildings in Yin Penglin district of Chansha. Based on an practical case, we furtherexplained the overall protection method for the modern heritage of industrialbuildings in Changsha.
