Stone Texture And The Environmental Design Of The Chinese Meishan Cultural Park

Natural stone is one of the earliest environmental materials used by human. Evenat present, stone or its imitated material are vastly used in our surroundingenvironment. With the development of time, the mining of stone and its processingtechnologies are becoming better. Therefore, it has highly significance of the studiesof classification, characterization, texture of stone as well as using stone with otherkind of materials.The Park of Chinese Meishan Culture was established as a cultural base topropagate and preserving Meishan Culture. In the construction of Meishan CulturalPark, stone is widely used as a construction material. This paper focuses on the stonetexture in the environmental design of the Park of Chinese Meishan Cultur.This paper can be divided into5sections. In the first chapter, the background,significance and frame of this research are presented. Some definitions associatedwith this paper are also indicated in chapter one to help the expression of ideas in thefollowing chapters. Based on the natural and social attribute of stones, theclassification and characterization of stone and its history and application in theenvironmental design are discussed in chapter two. In chapter three, the expressionmethod using stone, such as the texture, the combination of stone or with othermaterials are presented. Chapter four introduces the application and connections ofstones in the environmental design of the Chinese Meishan Cultural Park. The currentstates of the construction of the Park of Chinese Meishan Culture and ways of usingstone materials are presented in chapter five. In the conclusion section, the outcomesof this research are listed and some novel viewpoints of investigating the material andcultural attributes based on the constitutional and social perspective are proposed.
