With the deepening market reform of electric power and coal, the thermal power plant must use different fuel including undesigned coal and blending coal usually. In this paper, the incidence relation between different fuel conditions and unit performance was concerned for the impact on unit performance when coal condition changed. The main points are as follows:1) The quality indexes of single and blending coal which can affect the unit performance and electricity cost had been analyzed, and then the integrated analysis for unit performance was made. Fundamentally, the method for simulating the steady-state thermal performance of boiler was proposed based on structure parameters and principles of combustion and heat transfer, and some of key parameters called correction coefficient or empirical coefficients which verified and determined by operation data of boiler and engineering experience were introduced, these empirical coefficients could made small deviation of theoretical performance and measured performance, as well as the relationships between the performances of coal pulverizing system, fans, desulfurization device, denitrification device and the changes of operation condition, i.e., fuel etc. had been discussed, also the correction matters of unit performance analysis especially boiler performance analysis had been discussed then.2) The electricity cost prediction model based on coal quality and unit performance analysis had been put forward, fuel cost, electricity consumption cost of auxiliary equipment and other cost were included, and the partial costs were studied respectively.3)"Integrated Analysis System for Thermal Power Plant Coal Blending and Unit Performance" was developed, and for specific thermal power plant unit, the unit performance analysis of coal blending scheme was established to analyze the performance of boiler, coal pulverizing system, fans, desulfurization device and denitrification device, electricity cost for specific coal blending scheme was calculated afterwards.4) The system has been used in a domestic600MW thermal power unit, and the application experiences indicate that the electricity cost prediction model proposed in this paper is reasonable, and the software can help the power plants to make decision for selecting and buying coal, and to optimize coal blending scheme, consequently, to improve the economy of the power plant operation. Finally, some technical problems of R&D work have been solved combined with application and verification situation of system, the unit performance using typical coal and the coupling analysis for different coal blending schemes and unit performance have been analyzed to put forward some suggestions of coal blending.
