In the automatic transmission family, the automatic mechanical transmission with itshigh transmission efficiency, low manufacturing costs and good economic advantages hasbeen occupying a pivotal position. With the further development of science technology,modern pneumatic drive technology has also been a rapid development.Also because of thesuperiority of fireproof, explosion, security, pollution-free and pneumatic and electronicallycontrolled automatic mechanical transmission does not require additional power source,reducing manufacturing costs, which are promoting pneumatic AMT widely used in busesand heavy goods vehicles.As we all know, the clutch automatic control system of AMT system is a complexnonlinear system, coupled with strong gas compressibility, and response accuracy and speedof pneumatic drive are not easy to control, which increase the difficulty of pneumatic AMTclutch control. Therefore, to achieve precise control of pneumatic AMT clutch,manydifficulties are to be overcomed. In this paper, automatic clutch control of pneumatic AMTis researched, mainly from the following aspects.(1)Analyze the characteristics of the diaphragm spring clutch and control theoryFirst, the works of the diaphragm spring clutch and load characteristics of thediaphragm spring are elaborated,then to streamline the mathematical model of the diaphragmspring clutch,and calculate the separation characteristics and load characteristics of thediaphragm spring clutch,and formulated the optimum clutch engagement control law basedon these characteristics.(2) Clutch control algorithm research and controller designThere are more clutch control algorithms about AMT control system, this article alsocited several representative control algorithms, for example, a typical PID control, adaptivecontrol, intelligent control, fuzzy control and so on,they all have their own advantages. Thisarticle take logic switch PID control based on indicators of clutch control system for thepneumatic AMT. (3) The pneumatic AMT clutch control system modeling and simulationThe pneumatic AMT clutch system control the operation of the clutch solenoid valveblock by a gearbox control unit in order to achieve the separation and engagement of theclutch.The system’s source of power is the vehicle gas source.The model is built inAMEsim,in order to carry out effective simulation analysis, careful matching of parametersof a model of the system is made, and then conduct the simulation analysis to verify theeffectiveness of the control algorithm.(4)The pneumatic AMT clutch control bench testAccording to the testing program of the clutch automatic operating system,conduct thebench test,and test the work performance of the clutch valve block, also record and analysisthe test data to verify the effectiveness of the control algorithm developed.
