Located to the west of Hangzhou city, Xixi Wetland is the only secondary Wetland in China, which integrates functions of urban wetland, agricultural Wetland and cultural Wetland. It has long been considered a hermit friendly Shangri-La-like merry land and an ideal place for men of literature to concentrate on their creations. It is also of high historic values as it is commented as the sacred place for the poetry composers. However, today, the ecological environment of Xixi Wetland has been seriously damaged due to the negative effects of urbanization. The construction of national wetland park is the first step of state’s protection of such a precious wetland, which is of great significance for the restoration of the original landscape of Xixi wetland. More deeply probing into the landscape creations in the restoration project is very helpful for us to create a wetland environment of distinct local characteristics and contemporary spirit."Image" in this paper means a kind of theoretic method through which the researchers study the scenery qualities through visual apperceptions. It plays an important role in making more in-depth analysis on the characteristics, as well as the implications of the sceneries. This paper tries to, through introducing the concept of "image", study the scenic elements and landscape related geographic features. Through carefully scrutinizing the factors such as the scenic elements, natural environment, and historic and cultural intensions, we finally reach the following conclusions:The sceneries of Xixi wetland can be classified into6typical categories, according to its characteristics. They are, Remote Ferry and Deserted Beach, wild grassland and open forest, zigzag road and skew bridge, isolated village along the Remote River, secluded villas and quiet nunnery, and Ancient Street and open market. Among these6, Remote Ferry and Deserted Beach, wild grassland and open forest are the natural images while the rest four are humanistic images. Both the natural and humanistic images construct the integral image of the Xixi Wetland.
