The transmission lines are important to the power system. But they are exposed to the natural environment, not just withstand normal mechanical stretching and electric current, also against to many harmful external factors such as filthy, lightning, strong winds, floods, landslides, subsidence, earthquakes and bird. Since2010, Shandong EHV transmission lines had been affected by ice rain and cold weather, icing occured, and the line’s swing and tripping led to outage. People went out to find the fault location. But the environment is very harsh. The roads are very complex. The Headquarters Emergency Command Center could not grasp the condition of staff and vehicles, could not get images of the lines. So it is hard to give the emergency command or organize the emergency repairs.This article focuses on the study a set of intelligent inspection system of EHV transmission lines, in order to improve the efficiency and quality of inspections, assisting officer arrived at the scene quickly to work and passed the scene in real time to headquarters in a timely manner. The system mainly consists of three functional modules:intelligent patrol management platform, mobile inspection platform and data communication interface. The system mainly consists of six functions:line’s data management, path navigation management, inspection job management, defect management, statistical analysis, real-time data transmission.The system use many latest achievements such as the control unit of isolation between internet and intranet, wireless communication technology, global positioning technology, mobile technology, geographical information technology, data compression technology. The system transformed traditional patrol work mode. It is based on the C/S structure, selection of a common master development platform with Shandong Electric Power Group Corporation PMS system and ORACLE database, cross-platform Java and MapX mobile development tools. Data exchange problem had been solved. The system functions extend the deployment to the job site. The system possessed a moving target monitoring functions to grasp the real-time location of personnel, vehicles, and easy to command and dispatch. The historical trajectory superposition displayed on the electronic map. With the EVDO3G wireless communication technology, data could be real-time returned. The Headquarters Emergency Command Center can grasp the situation at the scene, give the emergency command and organize the rescue immediately.
