With the rapid development of industrial technology in recent years, many achievements have been made in China’s manufacturing industry. However, some problems still exist. Most products are considered to be lack of creativity, not well designed and thus low value-added. Industrial design has not been well used in products design, and this situation bothers many domestic companies. At present, industrial design is mostly used to improve the appearance of products. Only change the shape or colors of a product can’t really make a difference. Industrial design can be used to improve the aesthetics, ergonomics and usability of products, and it may also be used to improve the product’s marketability and even production. Especially for electromechanical products, the feasibility and comfort of the operation is essential, so the parts involving manual operation can not be simply designed based on imagination, but scientific design methods.This subject based on industrial design, taking the optimize design of the single axis gear nut automatic tightening machine as an example, tries to learn the popular user experience design method currently used in the internet web design, and analyses comprehensively how the user experience could be used in the design of electromechanical products. There are many differences between electromechanical products and internet products. Based on the characteristics of electromechanical products, this paper proposes the design process by four parts:user research, requirement analysis, experience design and experience assessment.User research and experience design are the two most crucial and complex parts. The user research methods have been chosen in this subject includes data collection, user questionnaire, user interviews, behavior observation and ergonomics. The design starts from realizing the core functions of making a single axis gear nut tight, and then extends to other detailed steps of the operation procedure. Through researching the whole process of the operation, the preliminary design of the product is completed. And then based on user requirements, this paper designs the body, the display device, operation devices and colors of the machine in detail, finally, the design is evaluated by a questionnaire in the form of graphs along with texts.The evaluation results show that user experience design method has played a significant role in the optimize design of the tightening machine, and prove that experience design method is an effective design method. This method can be really helpful in product Innovation.
