As the rapid development of offshore oil, large-scale marine engineering and port construction, crane vessel is increasingly becoming an indispensable tool for ocean engineering. However, with crane vessels increasing size and moving towards to the shallow water and deep-sea, their ballast on working status has become the key factor on safety. At present, the relevant research on experiment and numerical simulation has made certain progress, but the study of programmed ballast is on its debut.Based on this situation, the thesis gives a detailed introduction of the crane vessel on development and current situation at home and abroad by research. And describe briefly ballast system of some vessels. Summarize the application in ocean engineering, traffic construction and salvage etc. It elaborates the necessity of project study. This paper chiefly introduces the relevant principle in hoisting to offer theoretical foundation to the research of crane vessel ballast. Take actual vessel for example, introducing the basic structure of large hoisting offshore vessel; Analyzing the trim and stability of hoisting with the knowledge of hydrostatics; By adopting the motion simulation, studying the change of center of gravity and the connection between off lead, side lead and heeling, trimming angle when hoisting arm rotating. According to the research, the equation of ever-changing center of gravity and the general relational expression between off lead, side lead and heeling, trimming angle were reached. Design optimal ballast under different working conditions according to principle of moment balance. In the end, present the basic operating principles and limiting conditions.Elaborate on4000t offshore crane vessel lifting experiment. Calculate ballast water of some typical loading conditions by using the principle of ballast. The experiment results verify the feasibility and practicability of the above method. The analysis of experimental results and calculated data provides a reference for the later researchers.
