Study On Signal Intersection Optimization Based On Traffic Simulation Software VISSIM

Currently, traffic problems is becoming more and more serious, it is because of China’s rapid economic development, traffic demand also grows with the high rapid, the result is road congestion, chaotic traffic order and frequent traffic accidents,it also lead to serious traffic pollution, so the impact of China’s economic development as people’s living standards and the factors,more and more people pay attention to traffic problems gradually. Traffic intersection is relatively concentrated and becomes a traffic accident black spots, the urban road network is the most common and the most direct source of traffic congestion occurs, the traffic intersection reasonable for the organization and canalization of the entire governance and improving urban transport has great significance, using traffic simulation software to simulate the intersection is good for us to optimize and transform for intersections, it plays a very important role.This paper first analyses current research and development situation of domestic and foreign microscopic simulation, introduces microscopic simulation models including car following model, changing model, gap acceptance model, and enumerates some microscopic simulation software at present, then compares and analyzes the features of these software, and the use of the traffic simulation software VISSIM is introduced from the basic principles, the basic functions of the software, the simulation process, the operation interface etc.It introduces the specific methods of intersection optimization, including various methods of intersection canalization and principle, calculation method of intersection signal timing (WEBSTER method), and the distribution of intersection conflict is introduced in this paper. It is pointed out that the rational design phase plays a very important role in reducing the intersection conflict. In order to reflect the practical significance of this paper based on the speculative knowledge, data was collected in Ji’nan city, the erhuan east road, shanda north road intersection, and by using VISSIM simulation software simulated and evaluated the intersection situation. According to evaluation results, it analyses the present problem, and realizes the optimization of intersection writh measures such as the optimization of canalization, recalculating the time, at the same time inputs the optimized data into the VISSIM simulation software to simulation again, and obtains the simulation results. By contrast, after the intersection was optimized, the vehicle delay and queue length has been effectively reduced, thereby greatly improving the road traffic ability.Through the research on the intersection, we get the conclusion that VISSIM simulation software in the intersection of the actual optimization has a very important significance in the application, application of VISSIM software for simulation and optimization is convenient and practical, and this paper is a research on the intersection of Ji’nan city, and provides effective reference for easing traffic problems of Ji’nan city. It avoids the direct of intersection optimization without the reasonable optimization results and the big waste of financial resources and energy.
