There are vast areas, numerous rivers and rich water resources in China. A lot of large, medium and small reservoirs have been built since the foundation of the People’s Republic of China.the reservoirs play an important role in the national economy foundation industry.On the sides of flood control, power generation, irrigation, water supply, aquaculture, the reservoirs have created a huge social and economic benefit, meanwhile they promote the development of national economy, ensure people’s life, property safety and improve people’s living standards.In recent years, our country invests a lot of money for earth-rock dams to ensure the safe operation for earth-rock dam. According to the survey, plastic concrete cut-off wall is an effective and widely used reinforcement technology which has lower elastic modulus than the general rigid elastic modulus concrete wall. Because of its similar modulus of surrounding soils, plastic concrete cut-off wall has a good ability of deformation coordination with the surrounding soil and its seepage control effect is also good for erath-rock dam.In this article, some objective summaries and evaluations are drawn to state the characteristics and application status of plastic concrete cut-off wall in earth-rock dam. Based on the effect of plastic concrete cut-off wall for earth-rock dam stability, the work has mainly done as follows:(1) Under the guidance of predecessors,the basic methods and principles of seepage control technology are summed up, seepage control technologies are divided into four basic types:seepage control before dam, cutoff seepage within dam, discharge of seepage after dam and protection of export.A seepage control system has been formed.(2) Information related to basic attributes of the plastic concrete cut-off wall is collected; the materials composition, permeability mechanism, allowing hydraulic grade, coefficient of permeability and durability features are summed up;Plastic wall structure design theory are summarized and its construction methods and quality control are introduced.(3) The basic principle of the finite element method is introduced,;the relevant soil constitutive models are discussed.Drucker Prager (D-P) elastic-plastic model is found based on the finite element analysis software ANSYS to provide a certain basis for the deformation and stability analysis of earth-rock dam.(4) Based on finite element analysis of Tianjin Erwangzhuang reservoir earth dam typical sections with software ANSYS, the finite element model is established in the way that the cut-off wall is regarded as beam element, finite element model is used ideal elastic-plastic Drucker Prager (D-P), contact surfaces between soil and plastic concrete cut-off wall is used frictional contact element; the finite element analysis of plastic concrete cut-off wall for earth-rock dam stability of the impact.(5)Internal stress and strain are found out about typical10+800section in Erwangzhuang Earth Dam and the stress and strain condition of plastic concrete cut-off wall itself under different working conditions.(6) The influence of the plastic concrete cut-off wall for earth-rock dam stability is summaried through the finite element simulation analysis,some universal conclusions are obtained by the analysis and study of plastic concrete cut-off wall, which supply the theoretical basis for the influence and application of plastic concrete cut-off wall in earth dam reinforcement engineering on the stability of earth-rock dam.
