Research On The Application Of The Old Rural Cement Pavement Rubblization And Its Pavement

Since2003, the rural infrastructural construction has been enlarged and the Every Village Project has been implemented. And during this period cement concrete pavement has been widely applied for its advantages of simple construction process, less construction equipment investment, less management cost and so on. And therefore it has become the major construction form of the rural pavement. With the accumulation of using time, and along with other factors like big increase of traffic volume, axle load increase and construction quality, quite a number of cement concrete pavements have met with structural damage problems of slab breaking, slab misconnection and fissuring before they far from meeting the design life. Plusing that most of the earlier pavements are reaching their service lives and therefore have seriously impeded the normal traffic. Nevertheless, how to rebuild them remains a technical problem for the Highway Department who have to confront with as well as to work out.It’s difficult to repair concrete pavement extensively. So generally speaking, in many old rural cement and concrete pavement rebuilding projects of provincial trunk highways the usual method is to pave asphalt with its concrete surface layer above15cm. Paving concrete surface directly has its apparent advantages:old concrete pavement utilization, high degree of mechanization, fast construction speed and less impact on the traffic and environment. But it’s not accepted by our villages and towns, who are the major construction objects, for the disability to undertake the cost as the existing barrier of minimum investing scale.This article will proceed with the policy of rubblization, analyzing its range of application and preconditions and then a new method can be put forward by thinning of asphalt concrete pavement and paving lime fly-ash gravel.To find out a suitable pavement structure, the article will assure the actual bearing capacity after testing the pavement deflection and calculating the equivalent modulus of resilience, which will also be the basis of roofing thickness. Therefore, subjectivity and blindness can be avoided.As there are much less researches about the old rural cement pavement rubblization than those of old cement concrete pavement about national and provincial highways, we can provide some references in this article for the relevant application policy, pavement structure design, construction and quality management.
