The development of new energy vehicles is the trend of automotive industry in the future. Hybrid electric bus is the most market prospects vehicle. A kind of complex hybrid electric bus developed by a company is selected as the study object. According to the vehicle parameters, the power system is matched and the whole vehicle model of hybrid electric bus is set up in the CRUISE software. After the simulation tasks are determined, the driving and economic performance of the whole vehicle is simulated and analyzed.Firstly, the method combining the theoretical formulas with the simulation analysis is chosen. Under the premise condition which meets the three driving indicators including the maximum speed, the acceleration and climbing capacity, the required power of the power sources is analyzed and calculated by the basic parameters of hybrid electric bus. The parameter matching of power system is implemented.Secondly, the power system framework of hybrid electric bus is made out in the CRUISE simulation software. The models of the engine, the motor, the supercapacitor, the wheel and the other components are established. After connecting the machinery with the signal, the whole simulation model of hybrid electric bus is completely set up.Lastly, the simulation test of driving and economic performance is carried out after the simulation tasks are set and the simulation results are analyzed. The simulation results show that the driving and economic performance meets the design requirements and the parameter matching method of power system is correct and feasible. The parameters of main components are researched for the influence on the driving and economic performance.This research will be of the guiding significance and the valuable reference for the design and development of hybrid electric bus.
