The Research On Residential Segregation Of Zhengzhou Urban Space

Residential segregation refers to residents live in different areas of the city due to the different economic, cultural, professional, race and religion, it’s the projection of social class differentiation in the urban space. Residential segregation is a double-edged sword, moderate isolation not only can make the full use of urban land, but also can meet the needs of different social class, improve their living comfort level and satisfaction; excessive residential segregation will result in excessive possession of the public resources for certain social strata, social conflict and hostility, also the fragmentation of urban space and hinder sustainable development. At present, the residential segregation of Zhengzhou, which oriented by the income level and type of dwelling, have show up and bring some negative impacts on urban development and social stability, if some effective measures not to be taken timely, segregation will result in some more serious urban and social problems. So to sum up, the residential segregation study of Zhengzhou is extremely urgent and important.In this paper, the research object is Zhengzhou’s urban space residential segregation, through the analysis of its quantified segregation index, isolation form and spatial characteristics, to further explore its spatial isolation model and relevant factors, raise some strategies to ease and control the residential segregation from the perspective of urban planning.The paper is divided into six chapters:Chapter one mainly discusses the background, research significance, the relative conceptions of this topic research as well as the framework of the thesis and so on.Chapter two is the theoretical basic research, mainly summarizes the related theories, analysis and contrast the research methods from domestic and overseas.Chapter three summarizes the development status of Zhengzhou city, analysis its degree of residential segregation and appearance characteristics, on this basis summarize its spatial isolation model. Chapter four explores the influencing factors of Zhengzhou city residential segregation from the social level, institutional level and urban planning level.Chapter five raises the residential segregation mitigation strategies from the perspective of urban planning on the basis of the analysis of residential segregation’s impact on urban development.Chapter six is the conclusion part, summarizes author’s main point and conclusion, and makes outlook of the follow-up study’s content and direction of residential segregation of the urban planning field.
