Urbanization changed the original land types, site development caused the rapid expansion of impervious surface, coupled with the city inadequate " drainage first" stormwater drainage constitution, brought so many problems on resources, environment, ecology and social. Site development take the road of sustainable development to protect the natural hydrological cycle of has become an international consensus. Low Impact Development (LID) stormwater management is a new model of stormwater management, it is a protective site development approach, which advocates maintaining or restoring the site natural hydrologic functions and take small-scale, decentralized control measures for the integrated management of stormwater at the source. LID meet the requirements of sustainable development, reflect the harmony of site development and environmental protection, and has an important guiding significance of Chinese taking the road of sustainable development.By comparison the influential LID, WSUD and BSD design systems and LEED-ND, STTES evaluation system study found that stormwater as an important part of natural hydrological cycle, is the main problem of sustainable site landscape planning and design to solve. Based on the original natural hydrological cycle of site, using the concept of source control, combining stormwater management with the site landscape planning is the future trend of sustainable site.Analysising currently rain problem caused by the urban development, based on the concept of Low Impact Development LID), considering from the source site scale, provides guidance on the theory and methods of LID stormwater system establishing during site landscape planning and design Process. Comprehensively and systematicly build entire process of the site landscape planning and design based on LID, including design standards determine, site conditions analysis, site land-use plan, site landscape elements designing, rainwater overall system design and so on.Plants play an important role on the stormwater facilities, but also affected by many environmental factors, plant selection and design is the key of stormwater facilities to play and to maintain its long-term function. Summarizes the different stormwater facility plant selection principles and design essentials, and lists some appropriate plant species in northern China; Take a typical rainwater facilities rain gardens as an example, do some flooding experimental studies on18kinds of common landscape plants in northern China. Experimental results show that the majority of garden plants have the ability to tolerence short-term flooding,will not be affected on plant growth. The case studies illustrate the implementation process of site landscape planning and design and stormwater system design based on LID.Park as the city’s main landscape area and open space, with a large green area. With the development of the city, the park’s ecological functions are highly required, put forward some revision opinions for the"Code for the design of public park" in China based on the concept of LID.
