In recent years, the highway construction has been developed with jumpingmanner.But because of the imperfect design theory of asphalt pavement and the increasingtraffic volume, the damages of asphalt pavement in expressway are serious and shorter thandesign period,it seriously influenced the service life of the highway. Therefore,in order toguarantee the new asphalt pavement highway of Hunan province possessed excellentmechanical properties and service performance in life period. In this paper carried outstudying the method of full life cycle design of asphalt pavement in Hunan province,andmainly focus on the following aspects.(1) Established the simplified pavement performance model based on pavementsurface condition index and rutting depth index;Established the maintenance cost modelaccording to analyzing changes of maintenance cost and simplified pavement performanceindex each year in Hunan province.(2)Studied change law of pavement life factor, when pavement thickness was changed.The correction coefficient of pavement life factor derived according to relating theories andformula, used concrete examples to verifying the feasibility of the correction method(3) Established a unified schematic diagram of mechanical properties and serviceperformance in design. Achieved double recheck mechanism prediction life serviceperformance and calculated life mechanical properties, when surface thickness of pavementwas changed.(4) Studied the working flow chart of total life cycle design of asphalt pavement inHunan proveince according to unified principle of mechanical properties and serviceperformance, provided new ideas to design of asphalt pavement. Selected the optimalpavement structure project based on the mechanical properties、pavement performance andeconomy.
