Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) System has excellent transmission performance as well as low cost. All of these advantages have made the R&D of DCT a hot research topic in the world. Based on the National“863”Project“R&D of DCT used in sedans”, this thesis investigated the following research points:1. Introduced the structural characteristics, principle and prospective application of DCT. Comparison was made between different kinds of DCT.2. The model of DCT was proposed. This model included the model of the engine, the model of the diaphragm spring and the model of the Brushless Direct Current Motor (BLDCM). Also, the dynamic model of DCT in two different working modes, the closed mode and the slipping mode was proposed. All of these were the foundation for further topics, such as the design of control strategy and simulation.3. The startup control of DCT was discussed in chapter 3. To shorten the startup period, both of the clutches were engaged during the startup period. The slip ratio of one clutch was used to be the critical valve value to disengage one clutch. The simulation result demonstrated that this method can ensure the vehicle start up in a smooth way.4. The test system of DCT was designed. This system included the mechanical part, the hardware and the test software. The mechanic characteristics of the diaphragm spring were tested.
