The study selected nine self lines of Tagetes patula bred by our labs, named as K2, K3, K4, K5, K6, K8, K13, K15, and K17, respectively, and configured in two cross designs:5×5 complete diallel cross and 6x3incomplete diallel cross..5×5 complete diallel cross used K3, K4, K5, K15, K17 as the parents, simultaneously 6×3 incomplete diallel cross used K6, K8, K13 as the father and K2, K3, K4, K5, K15, K17 as the mother.The data of seed setting rate, germination rate, first flowering date, ornamental period, full-bloom stage, single flowering stage, plant height, plant width, stem diameter, number of branch, number of flower bud, capitulum number, length of flower peduncle, flower diameter, diameter of flower eye, number of ligulate flower, and number of tubulous flower were analysized by DPS (data processing software), inheritances of flower color, flower type, petal form also were studed, and 35 superior individuales were selected from parts of F2,18 superior individuales selected from commercial variety.The results showed that:1) Every character mentioned above has significant differences among the cross combinations of the two cross designs; 2) In 5×5 complete diallel cross, the seed setting rate of K5×K3 was maximum, with 56.89%, and that of K17XK15 was minimum, with 37.73%; The germination rate of K5×K5 was maximum, with 75.86%, that of K17×K15 was minimum, with 41.09%; 3) Plant width, diameter, capitulum numbe, number of tubulous flower had the heterosis over parents; the first flowering dates, full-bloom stage, single flowering stage, plant height, number of flower bud had the heterosis over mid-parent; branch number, diameter of flower eye, number of tubulous flower had negative heterosis over mid-parent; 4) According to the general combining ability, K3 and K5 are the best parents producing excellent progenies, K17 takes second place, that we can utilize preponderant in flower diameter to produce progenies big flower; According to the specific combining ability and REC of first flowering dates, ornamental period, full-bloom stage, single flowering stage, the superior crosses are K3×K5, K15×K3, K17×K3, K5×K15, K15×K17; according to plant height, plant width, diameter, number of branch, the superior crosses are K5×K3, K3×K15, K4×K5, K4×K15, K15×K17, K4×K17; according to number of flower bud, capitulum number, length of flower peduncle, flower diameter, diameter of flower eye, number of branch, the superior crosses are K5×K3, K4×K5, K4×K15, K17×K4, K4×K17, K5×K17.In 6×3 incomplete diallel cross:1) the the cross of K15×K8 was tmaximum, with 46.85%,that of K17×K6 was minimum,with 21.82%;The germination rate of K5×K6 was maximum, with 65.59%,that of K17×K6 was minimum,with 30.10%;2) Plant width,diameter, capitulum number, flower diameter, number of ligulate flower have the heterosis over parents,the first flowering dates, full-bloom stage, plant height, number of flower bud have the heterosis over mid-parent, branch number, diameter of flower eye, number of tubulous flower have negative heterosis over mid-parent, ornamental period and length of flower peduncle have negative heterosis over parents;3) According to the general combining ability,K3 and K5 are the best parents producing excellent progenies,K6 and K17 are excellent in plant height,K8 in diameter of flower eye,K17 in flower diameter;According to the specific combining ability and REC of first flowering dates, ornamental period,full-bloom stage, single flowering stage, the superior crosses are K3×K6,K15×K6,K17×K6,K2×K8,K3×K8,K4×K8,K17×K8,K3×K13, K4×K13,according to plant height, plant width, diameter, number of branch, the superior crosses are K2×K6, K4×K6, K5×K6, K4×K8, K15×K8, K17×K8, K2×K13, K3×K13, K4×K13, K15×K13, according to number of flower bud, capitulum number, length of flower peduncle, flower diameter, diameter of flower eye, number of branch, the superior crosses are K2×K6, K4×K6, K17×K6, K3×K8, K4×K8, K5×K8, K3×K13, K5×K13, K17×K13.The paper has researched morphological character, pollen viability, stigma vigour, the cause of pollen abortion, hybridization usage of two male sterility lines of Tagetes patula. The results show that:The two male sterility lines, named X3 and BY, are different from commercial variety in morphological character and pollen viability; the stigmas have normal activity; the pollen abortion happened in tetrad stage or before; F1 produced by male sterility lines and fertile is normal in ornamental characters provided evidence for production application of X3 and BY.
