Because of the unique geographical and climatic environment, Yunnan province becomes the major production base of high-quality tobacco and the largest section in tobacco planted in China. It is significant to carry climatic suitability regionalization of flue-cured tobacco planted out in Yunnan province for making full use of its climate resources, regulating the planting distribution, optimizing the industrial structure, achieving high quantity and quality and promoting scientific and rational development of tobacco economy. Based on the previous studies and the realistic production data, this study analyzed the data of quality of tobacco and climate in Yunnan province and then selected the Yunnan tobacco planting zoning factors and determined the index classification. This study also used the software for fine Agro-climatic regionalization that was China Meteorological Administration promoted to use, to carry climatic regionalization of tobacco planting out in Yunnan and discussed tobacco planting suitable climate regionalization of possible responses to future climate change.The results showed that:(1) The annual mean temperatures in Yunnan showed a fluctuation and an obvious increasing trend in total. Annual mean temperature distribution showed that the temperature distribution of the Yunnan was lower in north and higher in south. The temperature in valleys was higher than that in dams and mountains. The annual precipitation showed a significant variation and a slightly decreasing trend.(2)The high quality of Tobacco-producing areas were in central and eastern regions in Yunnan Province, including Li Jiang, Chuxiong, Kunming, Yuxi, Honghe, Qujing and the eastern region of Pu’er.(3)The results of climatic suitability regionalization for tobacco planting in Yunnan Province showed significant regional differences. The most suitable areas were mainly located in the north of Yuanjiang and the east of Dali area, in addition to Kunming, Qujing and the south of Zhaotong. These areas were the emphatic development areas of the tobacco planting in Yunnan Province, and also suitable for large-scale planting to improve the economic benefits. Suitable area were mainly consisted the city of Pu’er and most of the Lincang, these areas can effectively reduce the impact of the lacking heat by using cultivation techniques such as plastic film mulching and greenhouse nursery during tobacco planting. The sub-suitable areas included Qujing, Kunming and the northern region of Xishuangbanna. Unsuitable areas were mainly distributed in western Yunnan, including Diqing, Nujiang, Dehong, Baoshan and part of Dali, Lincang and Yuanjiang river, also including the northern part of Kunming and the southern part of Zhaotong.(4) In different situations of the average temperature increased0.5°C,1°C,1.5°C in July, the most suitable areas obvious trend of moving to the north, meanwhile, the area is also gradually increased from the current29%to33%.
