The pretreatment on seeds has an important significance in plant growth and development. At present, the seeds treated methods mainly include physical and chemical methods. However, these methods have a series of problems, such as high cost, low safety coefficient and high energy consumption. Meanwhile, some chemical reagent could cause certain harm to seeds. Therefore, it is had great academic significance and application value to explored a new method of promote the germination and growth of seeds.First of all, using a new electrochemical method to deal with wheat seeds germination is presented in the present paper. The biological effect of the seeds germination treated by electrochemical method is preliminarily studied. The germination potential, germination rate, the length of the seedling bud and root, germination index, vigor index, amylase and peroxidase (POD) activity, malondialdehyde (MDA) content are determined using biostatistical methods and spectrophotometry. The influence to processing time and voltage are investigated. The results show that the germination rate, germination potential and germination index, vigor index increase by about0.66%~5.33%, 0.67%-8.00%and2.09~7.84,0.13~3.00, respectively. At the same time, amylase and peroxidase activity were improved by about0.23~10.34U and5.66-28.58U, separately. The best treatment conditions are the voltage of8V and the processing time of2.0h. The experimental results provide a new method and ideas for seeds treatment.Secondly, the resistance of the wheat seeds on NaCl stress was investigated in electrochemical system. The germination potential, the germination rate and the length of the seedling bud and root of the wheat seed using electrochemical treatment were analyzed by statistical methods under NaCl stress with different concentration. At the same time, the activities of amylase and peroxidase as well as the content of malonaldehyde were determined using spectrophotometry. The results show that the physiological indexes of the wheat seeds treated by electrochemical system under the different concentration NaCl stress, such as germination potential, germination rate, the length of the seedling bud and root as well as the enzyme activity, are significantly enhanced, comparing with the ones of wheat seeds only soaked with water or Na2SO4solution. In contrast, the content of malonaldehyde is reduced. Comparing with the wheat seed soaked with water or Na2SO4solution, the germination potential, the germination rate, the length of the seedling bud and root, the amylase activity and the peroxidase activity of wheat seed treated by electrochemical system increased respectively6.00%-14.67%,4.66%-11.33%,2.08-3.57cm and1.77-3.12cm,8.95-11.42U and23.38-29.20U under the same concentration NaCl stress while the content of malonaldehyde of it decreased0.45-1.07μmol/L. As a conclusion, the resistance ability of the wheat seed to NaCl solution is enhanced by the treatment with electrochemical system.
