| Lily is one of the world’s flowers, it is favored by the vast number of consumers for its bright color and beautiful shape, and connotation of happiness. As an up-and-coming youngster in the world cut flowers market, lily has a very significant future in the consumption and production. However, existing cultivars have problems as the inferior fertility and the lower seed-setting rate, which restrict to new cultivar breeding of lily. Besides, lily cut flowers have severe losses during storage and transportation because of the lack of effective after-pick treatment. In China, a large number of high-quality lily bulbs are imported from abroad every year for cut flower production.These partly limit the further enlargement of our lily industry. The effects of Thidiazuron (TDZ), with different concentrations, on the development of the fruits and seeds, and cut flowers preservation, and the rejuvenation of bulblets originated from the scale of Lilium oriental ’Sorbonne’ were studied, and research the mechanism and the physiological and biochemical resonse induced by TDZ, in the growth and development of lily. The experiment results are as follows:(1) Exogenous TDZ played a significant role in promoting the fruit expansion and seed development, which had a close correlation with TDZ concentration and treating time, especially200μmol·L-1TDZ exhibited most prominent outcome. Compared with the controls, TDZ spray had no obvious impact on fruit swelling at10d and15d until30d after treatment. Furthermore, exogenous TDZ increased the CWI activity, total chlorophyll content and net photosynthesis rate, and consequently improved the integrated reproductive process of lily cultivar ’Sorbonne’.(2) Appropriate concentration of TDZ pulse treatment had significant effect on preservation of’Sorbonne’lily cut flower, especially100μmol·L-1TDZ pulse treatment. Compare to control,100μmol·L-1TDZ pulse treatment could extend the vase life of flowers by up to1.5d, and make the maximal diameter of flower increased by1.56cm as well as delay the forming time by1.6d. Furthermore, the change rate of fresh weight overtopped the control by10.12%. Besides, the cut flowers pulsing with100μmol·L-1TDZ could maintain a higher level chlorophyll content for a period with a rising trend, and the peak of respiration and ethene release were postponed by2d, and the peak values were reduced.(3) TDZ could promote the rejuvenation of bulblets originated from the scale of lily, and the effect correlated closely to the concentration and the treatment stage.lily plant green time was longer, and bulds were more big and weight, with the concentrations of TDZ increase. The result showed that400μmol·L-1TDZ treatment at4months after emergence was best to the rejuvenation of lily bulblets, such as the green period of plants was increased by62d, the fresh weight of bulblet increased1.10times, bulblet perimeter increased0.77times, bulblet length increased0.65times, bulblet width increased0.43times. |
