Regulation Of Fluridone, Ga₃and Strigolactones For Germination Of Cistanche Deserticola Seeds

Strigolactones are germination stimulants for seeds of parasitic plants, other plant growth regulators could also induce germination of these seeds. In order to investigate the germination mechanism of Cistanche deserticola seeds and solve the germination problems in cultivation, we studied the quality of wild and cultivated seeds of C.deserticola, influence and suitable condition for germination of strigol (ST), GR24, GA3and fluridone (FL) for seeds of C. deserticola. The main conclusions are showed as follow:1. The quality of wild and cultivated seeds is similar. Cultivated seeds can replace the wild seeds for research and production.2. The enhancement effects of FL, GA3, ST, GR24to seeds germination is decreasing. The strigolactones ST and GR24can induce C.deserticola seeds germination, but the rate is significantly low. FL and ST can induce formation of haustorium-like structure of C.deserticola seeds. At present, there is none of other report shows that strigolactones can induce germination and formation of haustorium-like structures of C.deserticola.3. The suitable conditions for C.deserticola seeds germination is germination without light for60d at25℃, without preconditioning. The germination rate decreased significantly in the case of increasing the preconditioning time. The effect of temperature and preconditioning temperature on seed germination rate is different according to the concentration of ST, GR24, GA3、FL. Preconditioning temperature is more important than germination temperature, and low temperature can play a role in promoting the strigolactones effect.4. Seeds coat can significantly inhibit seeds germination, but FL and ST are able to induce germination of seeds with coat.
