Our vegetable factory plug seedling gradually moving towards the scale, standardization and specialization, the demand of media has increased dramatically. Though peat is an ideal seedling media material, transportation cost is higher, meanwhile peat is limited resource that can’t regenerate in the short term. There is important economic and ecological significance that using agricultural waste resources, such as crop straw, mushroom residue of to develop new seedling media. Therefore, this paper studies the feasibility that maize straw and cotton seed mushroom residue instead part or all of alternative peat as media for tomato and sweet pepper seedlings, and application effect and technology of controlled release fertilizer, super absorbent polymer and chitosan for tomato and sweet pepper plug seedling were further studied, which in order to achieve the purpose of improving performance of media and efficiency, simplify management of water and fertilizer, reducing cost of plug seedling and protecting ecological environment.The main results as follow:1. The mushroom residue compost, maize straw compost, peat and vermiculite were used to composite different complex media for tomato and sweet pepper seedling test. The results showed that mushroom residue compost and maize straw compost could improve the physical and chemical characteristics of complex media, promoted seedling growth of tomato and sweet pepper, improved root activity, chlorophyll content and Pn and cultivated high quality seedling. Comprehensive indexes such as seedling growth, seedling index, physiological activity, indicated that the media of mushroom residue compost+peat+vermiculite (1:1:1, V/V) was the most suitable media for tomato seedlings, the next was the media of mushroom residue compost+peat+vermiculite (1:1:1, V/V). The media of maize straw compost+vermiculite (2:1, V/V) had best effects on sweet pepper seedling, and the next was mushroom residue compost+peat+vermiculite (1:1:1, V/V).2. Effects of addition to super absorbent polymer SAP) on seedling of tomato and Sweet pepper in the media of mushroom residue compost+peat+vermiculite (1:1:1, V/V) were studied. The results showed that the total porosity and water-holding porosity increased by adding SAP, and the media capacity of water-holding and water-keeping were increased. Addition to SAP could promote seedling growth of tomato and sweet pepper, improved seedling index, physiological activity and resistance of tomato and sweet pepper seedling. It could save respectively water-fertilizer by15.3~58.2%and12.8~51.8%in whole seedling period of tomato and sweet pepper. The best suitable dosage of SAP was4g·L-1for tomato and sweet pepper plug seedling in the media. 3. Effects of addition to chitosan on seedling of tomato and sweet pepper in the media of mushroom residue compost+peat+vermiculite (1:1:1, V/V) were studied. The results showed that moderate chitosan could promote growth of tomato and sweet pepper significantly, and seedling index increased by33.8%and40.2%, respectively, under4g·L-1dosage, meanwhile the root vigor, Pn and resistance of seedling were increased. The best suitable dosage of chitosan was4g·L-1for tomato and sweet pepper plug seedling in the media.4. Effects of mixing controlled release compound fertilizer, controlled release urea and common fertilizer on seedling of tomato and sweet pepper in the media of mushroom residue compost+peat+vermiculite (1:1:1, V/V) were studied. The results showed that addition to full quantity of controlled-release compound fertilizer and controlled release urea were security for emergence of tomato and sweet pepper, promoted growth of seedling and increased seedling index, and their chlorophyll content, Pn and root activity of seedling as same as nutrient solution treatment in the later period of plug seedling. Seedling effects of full controlled release compound fertilizer and controlled release urea of tomato and sweet pepper were better than that of spraying nutrient solution, whose seedling effect as same as that of reduction of20%of the controlled release fertilizer treatment.5. Effects of controlled release fertilizer, super absorbent polymer and chitosan on plug seedling of tomato and sweet pepper on interaction by general rotatory design in the media of mushroom residue compost+peat+vermiculite (1:1:1, V/V) were studied. The results shown that addition moderate super absorbent polymer, controlled release fertilizer and chitosan can promote growth and physiological activity of seedling, enhance the ability of resilience. The dosage of components combination could produce best quality of tomato seedling under the media by computer simulation and model analysis:super absorbent polymer4.48~5.05g·L-1, controlled release fertilizer4.05~4.59g·L-1, chitosan3.94~4.63g·L-1. The most suitable dosage of components combination for sweet pepper seedling:super absorbent polymer4.73~5.22g·L-1, controlled release fertilizer5.02~5.52g·L-1, chitosan3.05~3.70g·L-1.
