In order to enhance efficient of agriculture, increase income of farmers in mountain areas and promote coordinating development among regions, breeding and popularizing sweet corn new cultivar with better quality and higher yield was one of the ways to solve the problems in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province. In our previous study, we had bred a new single cross hybrid "Jinyu Tian No.1" in sweet corn. The objective of this study was to evaluate the characterization of "Jinyu Tian No.1", determine sowing interval of parents for F1seed production, and effect of increasing inbred line in glasshouse in winter season locally. Three experiments were carried out in Wenzhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences from2005to2008. The main results obtained are as follows.1. Average grain yield of "Jin Yu Tian No.1" over two years was12.146t/hm2in the regional trial of sweet corn organized by Zhejiang Province from2005to2006, and was5.49%higher than that of check cultivar "Chaotian No1" in grain yield. Score of overall evaluation for eating quality was84.4,4.8higher than that of check."Jin Yu Tian No.1" was registered in November,2007by Zhejiang Variety Evaluation Committee, and is suitable planting in main area in Zhejiang Province.2. It is determined by the standard leaves investigation method that the best sowing dates for female parent was fifth August, and was7days later and14days later for the first sowing and second sowing for male parent respectively, in F1seed production of "Jin Yu Tian No.1"combination in fall season. The best sowing dates for female parent was eleventh March, and was17days later and21days later for the first sowing and second sowing for male parent respectively, in F1seed production of "Jin Yu Tian No.1"combination in Spring season.3. All the eight inbred lines of sweet corn used in this study matured normally from early April to late April when they were sowed on Nov.22th locally in the glass greenhouse. Although the growing periods were longer, the plants were smaller and the seed setting rates were lower in the local Winter-cultivation in the glass greenhouse than those normally sowed in spring season, the winter-cultivation manner still achieved the purpose of increasing generations locally in southern Zhejiang.
