The study was conducted to investigate the effects of3kinds of chinese herb heedadditive on performance, blood biochemical parameters and meat quality in AA broilers.2801-day-old AA mixed-sex broilers were randomly allotted into7treatments with4replicates in each treatment, with10broilers in each replicate. The trail period was42days.Ⅰ-Ⅵ test wasoffered control diet(maize-soybean meal) respectively supplemented with1%mixed herb1,2%mixed herb1,1%mixed herb2,2%mixed herb2,1%mixed herb3and2%mixed herb3. The results were showed as follows:1、Growth performance: the AA chickens on average daily gain (ADG)(1-42d), thecontrol group and the group IV was significantly higher than that in group Ⅲ(P<0.05).Average daily feed intake (ADFI) in the whole period was the group Ⅱ highest, but amongthe groups was not significant(P>0.05). Feed/Gain (F/G) in the whole period was thecontrol group lowest, but differences between groups not significant(P>0.05). The first halfperiod of ADFI (1-21d) and latter half period of ADFI (22-42d) was respectively group Ⅳand group Ⅱ highest, but among groups did not reach significant levels(P>0.05). The firsthalf period of ADG and latter half period of ADG was respectively group Ⅱ and groupⅣhighest, but among groups did not reach significant levels(P>0.05). The first half period ofF/G and latter half period of F/G were the group Ⅳ lowest, but differencesbetween groupsnot significant(P>0.05).2、Serum Biochemical Parameters: the latter half period of serum total cholesterolthan (TC) was the group Ⅳ highest, and significantly higher than that of the control groupand group I(P<0.05), Ⅰ-VI of each experimental group were significantly higher thecontrol group(P<0.05); the latter half period of serum high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDLC) levels reached the highest level in group Ⅴ, and compared with the other sixgroups differences significant(P<0.05); the latter half period of serum triglyceride (TG)and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDLC) between groups were not significantdifferences(P>0.05). The first half period of serum biochemical parameters in broilers, theserum TG levels of group Ⅴ was the highest and with group Ⅳ at the same level, and thanthe other five groups significantly different(P<0.05), the group IV was significantly highergroup Ⅰ and Ⅱ and Ⅵ(P<0.05); the serum TC content of group Ⅵ was the highest and with group Ⅰ, II and Ⅴ at the same level, and than the other three groups differencessignificant with(P<0.05); serum LDLC content of group Ⅵ was significantly with highgroup Ⅳ(P<0.05); the level of serum HDLC between groups did not reach significantdifference(P>0.05).3、Meat quality(1) nutrients: the first half period of breast muscle and the latter half period of thighmuscle protein content were in mixed herb3(group Ⅴ and Ⅵ) reached the highest level, and was significantly differences than other groups(P<0.05), and each test group weresignificantly higher the control group(P<0.05); the first half period of thigh muscle and thelatter half period of breast muscle protein content of each group were not significantdifferences(P>0.05). The first half period of breast muscular fat content among the groupsthe differences were not significant(P>0.05); the latter half period of breast muscular fatcontent is group I the highest, but each test group and control group no significantdifference(P>0.05); the first half period of thigh muscular fat content was group Ⅳ thehighest, and group Ⅱ, Ⅲ, Ⅳ and Ⅴ was significantly higher than control group(P<0.05);the latter half period of the thigh muscular fat content among groups were not significantdifference(P>0.05). Breast muscular dry matter content of group II was the highest, withgroup Ⅲ and group Ⅴ at the same level, and were significantly different than the controlgroup(P<0.05); the latter half period of the breast muscular dry matter content of groupⅠwas the highest level and significantly different than group Ⅲ(P<0.05); the first half andlatter half period of thigh muscular dry matter levels of each group were not significantlydifferent(P>0.05).(2) physical and chemical character: the first half period of breast muscular pH valueof control group and Ⅳ group was significantly higher than the groupⅠ, II and Ⅴ(P<0.05);the first half period of thigh muscular pH values of the control was significantly higherthan groupⅠand Ⅱ(P<0.05); the latter half period of thigh muscular pH value of group Ⅱwas significantly lower than the other six groups(P<0.05); the first half period of breastand thigh muscular shear force that the difference between groups was not significant(P>0.05). The latter half period of breast and thigh muscular shear force of the controlgroup was the lowest, and significantly different than the group Ⅳ and Ⅴ(P<0.05); thefirst half period of breast and thigh muscular water loss rate among groups were notsignificantly different(P>0.05). the latter half period of breast muscular water loss rate isthe highest in group Ⅳ, with groupⅠ at the same level, relative to the other five groupdifferences significant(P<0.05); the latter half period of the thigh muscular water loss rateat the highest level of group II and III were significantly different than the control group and the group Ⅵ(P<0.05), and group Ⅰ was significantly higher than controlgroup(P<0.05). the first half period of breast muscular flesh a value of groupⅤwassignificantly higher than control group(P<0.05), b value of group Ⅲwas significantlyhigher than control group and group Ⅵ(P<0.05), L value of group VI was significantlylower than the other six groups(P<0.05); the latter half period of breast muscular flesh aand b values of each test group were not significantly different than control group(P>0.05),L value of group Ⅳ and Ⅴ at the same level, but the group Ⅳ compared to other fivegroup differences significant(P<0.05); the first half period of thigh muscular flesh a valueof group VI was significantly higher than group II and IV(P<0.05), the b value of group Ⅱ,Ⅲ, Ⅴ and Ⅵ were significantly higher than control group(P<0.05), the L value of thecontrol group, group II and III were significantly higher than group Ⅳ and Ⅴ(P<0.05). thelatter half period of thigh muscular flesh a value of group Ⅴ significantly lower than groupI, II, III and VI(P<0.05), and b values of group Ⅲ, Ⅳ and Ⅵ were significantly higherthan control group(P<0.05), L value of groupⅤ was significantly higher than group II andⅥ (P<0.05), the control group and the group IV was significantly higher than group Ⅵ(P<0.05).(3) antioxidant indicators: the first half and latter period of thigh musclemalondialdehyde (MDA) content were the control group reached the highest level and thedifference with the test group was significantly(P<0.05); the first half period of breastmuscle MDA content that between groups were not significantly different(P>0.05). thelatter half period of breast muscle MDA content of the control group was the highest level, and with the differences of each test group were significantly(P<0.05), and the lowestcontent was group Ⅵ, and significantly different than group Ⅲ(P<0.05).
