The Effect of adding 0.5% additives of Chinese herb to diet of sow on the performance of sows and its suckling piglets were studied in this experiments and the mechanisms were also initially discussed. 8 primiparous purebred landraces, whose mating date, reproductive performance and body condition were similar, were randomly divided into control and treatment groups with four replicates. The sows of control groups were feed the basal diet, the sows of treatment groups were feed the basal diet supplemented with 0.5% additives of Chinese herb. The results showed that:(1) Compared with control groups and treatment groups, the average litter weight at 20d of piglets was increased by 16.41% (p<0.05), there were significant difference in both groups, the average 35-day-weaning weight per nestpiglets was increased by 19.12% (p<0.05), there were significant difference in both groups, the average litter weight at birth and the average litter weight at 7d were increased (p>0.05), but there were no significant difference in both groups, the average litter daily weight gain at 0-20d and 0-35d were increased by 21% (p<0.05),23.26% (p<0.05), there were significant difference in both groups, the milk yield of the sows at 0-20d was increased by 21.25 (p<0.05), there were significant difference in both groups; The interval between ablactation and oestrus was shorten by 15.60% (p<0.05), the number of the piglets of the next nest were increased by 27.27% (p<0.05), there were significant difference in born groups, the feed intake was increased (p>0.05), but there were no significant difference in both groups.(2) Compared with control groups and treatment groups, the average individual weight of 20 days and the weaning average individual weigh were increased by 14.21% (p<0.05),17.79% respectively (p<0.05), there were significant difference in both groups, the average born individual weight and the average individual weight of 7days were increased (p>0.05), but there were no significant difference in both groups, the average individual daily weight gain at 0-20d,0-35d and 7-35d were increased by 15.97% (p<0.05),19.14% (p<0.05),20.79 (p<0.05) respectively, there were significant difference in both groups, feedstuff wastage of each head was increased (p>0.05), F/G was decreased (p>0.05), but there were no significant difference in both groups; The diarrhea ratio and the death ratio of piglets were decreased by 59.59% (p<0.01),21.65% (p<0.05).(3) Compared with control groups and treatment groups, the TP and ALB of the sow serum was increased by 6.18% (p<0.05),9.66% respectively (p<0.05), there were significant difference in both groups, GLO, GLU, ALP, GOT, GPT were increased (p>0.05), but there were no significant difference in both groups, BUN, TG3, CHO were decreased (p>0.05), but there were no significant difference in both groups.(4) Compared with control groups and treatment groups, the TP,GLO and ALP of the piglet serum were increased by 6.94%(p<0.05),10.49%(p<0.01),1.75%(p<0.05) respectively. The ALB, GLU, GPT, GOT were increased (p>0.05), but there were no significant difference in born groups, BUN, TG3, CHO were decreased (p>0.05), but there were no significant difference in born groups. IgA and IgG of serum were increased by 10.16% (p<0.05), 20% respectively (p<0.05), there were significant difference in both groups, the effect of additives of Chinese herb on IgM,C3 andC4 was little (p>0.05).It was concluded that the Chinese herb feed additives improved the Performance of the lactating Sows and the suckling piglets.
