With the increase of concern on security of environment and food, organic products became popular and organic tobacco production also rise in China. In order to explore the possibility of organic tobacco production, field experiments such as panting methods of traditional and organic, planting density, dosage of fertilizer were conducted in Lawu county, Dali of Yunnan Province. Agricultural characters, diseases, yield and quality of tobacco were used to determine the suitable organic tobacco planting technique. And investigations of organic tobacco production and income of farmers were conducted for further understanding organic tobacco production and setting up a relevant police of subsidy.The results showed that as increasing of planting density, remained leaves, weight of per leaf were decreased, and the disease of tobacco leave in the later period was significantly affected, so it was better to decrease the planting density in organic tobacco planting, but little influence on the content of Cl and K. The rate of fertilizer was not only closely related to plant growth, yield and quality, but also to the disease of tobacco leave in the later period. As increasing of the fertilizer usage, the plant height, stem girth, remained leaves and weight per leaf were increased, and also protein, NIC, TN were increased, but little difference on sensory quality test under different fertilizer usage. After curing, the yield of organic tobacco planting was lower than that of traditional planting, the lose rate of NC297, NC102, K326was12.9%,26.7%, and16.4%respectively. The average lose of yield is about227.55kg/hm2,3652.18CNY/hm2. The yield lose of NC297, NC102, K326was about343.35、721.8、445.5kg/hm2respectively and losing value of NC297and NC102was about3641.47、3232.94CNY/hm2respectively, but the value of Hongda and K326was increased. The proportion rate of the high and middle class leaves was higher than that of the traditional planting tobacco. Therefore, for organic tobacco production development, tobacco company should set up composition policy to encourage the production.
