Callisia Spiderwort is a perennial herb belonging to Commelicaceae as the plant of Callisia native to American tropic. it has a creeping stem,and drooping to the ground.Its leaves is egg-shaped or heart-shaped with thin layer of flesh,bright color, a little purple spot. And the sheath of its leaves and stems are purple. These aging plants blossom with light white flowers, it enjoys staying under high temperature and moisture environment,the proper temperature for bearing is about20-28℃,its stems and leaves are glossy dark green and soft which are suitable for the cultivation of roof coverings. at present,the majority of plants are Stringy Stonecrop,Sedum Asrmentosum and so on in the application of green roof lants in few cities of china.And its related physiological and ecological studies have not yet reported,this experiment is based on analysis and researches about its growth and morphological characteristics of the Callisia Spiderwort. And the experiment provides theoretical basis for how to choose suitable climate in Nanchang by low cost.The experiment has been token on the roof of the Learning Building in Jiangxi Agricultural University with the single factor random pot, repeats three times. Callisia Spiderwort were choosed as the research object. The main conclusions are as following:1. The roof which laid Callisia Spiderwort on grass lawn, has certain cooling and heat preservation effect in summer and winter.2. To shop the stem and leaf of Callisia Spiderwort in Nanchang roof when the optimum temperature for cultivation underl2.80℃-34.85℃;11.63℃-38.00℃。the plants go into the withered time in the early November and its Green period is180d-210d. It grows a small amount of Jade green Callisia Spiderwort on its face in the early November.3. On the roof areas of Nanchang, Callisia Spiderwort grow faster in the spring and early summer and early autumn,the Photosynthetic Properties is good, with better visual effects.and the cutting propagation is more easier in early spring.4. The stem and leaf growth of Callisia Spiderwort with the drought, high temperature stress strengthening slowed down, but they could grow under drought stress21d, about10℃, and high temperature of40℃. It shows that the paving the Callisia Spiderwort can better adapt to the climate on the roof of Nanchang.In the winter, the1/2plants of Callisia Spiderwort lived,with the thatch production.5. The effect of the moisture content of the Callisia Spiderwort decreases with the degree of the drought stress. the effec of the absolute moisture content of Callisia Spiderwort is not so much in5℃to25℃.but when the temperature is over30℃, the moisture content declines, but its decreases is smaller than the Sedum Lineare’s,which suggests the Callisia Spiderwort has drought and heat resistance.6. The Chlorophyll content of Callisia Spiderwort is decreases with the degree of the drought stress. The effec of the absolute moisture content of Callisia Spiderwort is not so much in5℃to20℃. When the temperature is over21℃, the trend changes slowly.But when the temperature is between30℃to44℃, the Chlorophyll content increases, and when the temperature is over45℃, the Chlorophyll content decreases, which suggests the Callisia Spiderwort has strong resistance for drought and heat weather.7. The content of Malondialdehyde of the Callisia Spiderwort increases with the changes of the temperature.when the temperature belows25℃, the content of Malondialdehyde of the Callisia Spiderwort changes more than the Linear Stonecrop’s,which suggests its cold resistance is weaker than the Linear Stonecrop’s. When the temperature is over30℃’,the content of Malondialdehyde of the Callisia Spiderwort increases,which suggests its heat resistance is stronger than the Linear Stonecrop’s.In the drought stress of63d,the content of Malondialdehyde of the Callisia Spiderwort increases clearly,which suggests its strong drought,heat resistance and its weak cold resistance.8. The soluble sugar content of the Callisia Spiderwort strengthen with high temperature; The soluble sugar content decreases under25℃,but its change range is small.9. The content of Proline of the Callisia Spiderwort increases with the strength of high temperature,low temperature stress;and the plant isn’t sensitive to mild water stress,which suggests its strong drought resistance.
